Knitting

Hark a Herald!

Not quite Christmas, just the name of my shawl I knitted many months ago. My Deep Ocean Twist jumper is cooling off at the moment because I am suffering from ‘seaming sydrome’. I now have knitted the second sleeve, but only managed to seam only the shoulders at the weekend. I get so tired after work these days that I just want to go to bed.

Anyway, this pattern is by Janina Kallio, and though the original is knitted in fingering weight yarn, I love the fact that the pattern is adjustable to any yarn weight. I first made it in Knitpicks Gloss Lace, a blend of merino and silk which resulted in a soft and drapey shawl. Since I had only one hank, I just knitted until I ran out of yarn, resulting in a small-ish but gorgeous shawl. I just love it. I knitted on 4mm needles by the way.

Here it is (apologies for the greyness of the pictures, we now have shorter and mostly grey days over here, making taking photographs in daytime a chore).

Version 1: Knitpicks Gloss Lace in Carrot

I loved my first version so much that I made another one in my Schachenmayr Merino stash (DK weight) on 5mm needles.
